Since 2009 there have been rules set in place that specify that R22 refrigerants cannot be used anymore. It is also illegal to have stock of the refrigerant for use in the future as we now only allow recycled gas for your R22 systems. These recycled gas sources are not sustainable and are expensive because of their stability of supply. Another problem that comes with the R22 system is that there are no longer spare parts being created for repairs so it makes it incredibly difficult to repair and maintain the quality of the systems. So since 2014 there has been a ban on using recycled R22 systems.
